“Aizu Momen”

Layers and layers of the warp and weft create a wide sheet of the textile. Textiles have stories to tell. Stories about the landscapes of the places it had been. Stories of the people, woven in between warps and wefts.

“Yuki Tsumugi”

Yarns are spun one string by one string, and woven to make the textile, while inheriting and handing down the technique, which has kept unchanged for 1500 years in the flow of time.

“Old textile”

Textiles have stories to tell. Stories about the landscapes of the places it had been. Stories of the people, woven in between warps and wefts. Textiles exist as the playback system for those stories beyond time and place.

“Textile of Okinawa”

There are many variations of dyed textiles that have handed down for generations, throughout Japan. The one in Okinawa can be considered as one of the original forms, and it also keeps its old handwork production style.

“Ryukyu Bingata”

Designs inspired by plants and landscapes of the tropical land colorfully decorate the cloth.A long roll of textile is stretched across, on which many dyers work concurrently to paint patterns in.

“Ryukyu Kasuri”

Close to 200 people are being involved in the weaving industry.It was the heritage that has taken root into the people over generations under the rule of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
